Amazon have started taking preorders for their highly successful Echo in the UK with release to be around the 28th of September. The Echo has been available in the USA for more than six months and the Americans have taken to voice control in a big way. The Echo is a voice activated assistant for your home, making tasks easier by asking the Echo questions or requesting it to carry out specific tasks.
If you have your hands a full with cooking a meal just ask Echo to set a timer or what is in your calendar for the day. You can also ask the Echo to play music from services like Spotify and TuneIn radio or read a book from Audible. The Echo becomes more interesting when you integrate it with your home automation. Control4 and Crestron have announced partnerships with the Amazon Echo so now you can ask Echo to recall presets to carry out a multiple tasks in your home. Tell you Echo "turn house to goodnight" and the control system will lock the doors, enable the alarm, turn off all televisions and dim the lights.
Voice control of your home is now a reality, if you are interested please get in contact for a demonstration.
